Landscape Team Leader
Position Title: Landscape Installation Team Leader
Reports To: Landscape Operations Manager
Position Overview

The Landscape Install Team Leader is an experienced landscaper working with minimal supervision.

The position works as a member of the team and directs the activities of two or more learn members at a job site. The Landscape Install Team Leader is able to operate a variety of equipment and has a working knowledge of horticulture practices.

Essential Responsibilities

  1. Reads landscaping blueprints, reviews plan with designer and operations manager, and implements    the landscape construction plan.
  2. Operates a variety of mechanical equipment, including but not limited to; back hoes, bob cats, dingos, tillers, sod cutters, weed caters, plant augers, chain saws and drills.
  3. Operates automatic and stick shift vehicles, such as dump trucks and tack and trailer combinations.
  4. Routinely interacts with clients by way of introductions at the beginning of a job, answering questions, responding to client requests, making reasonable changes to the plan, and providing a walk-through at the jobs completion.
  5. Complete the necessary paperwork including, but not limited to, time sheets, work orders, change orders, material requisitions.
  6. Plans and organizes the job, ensuring that sufficient resources and materials are available. Also, that the job is completed in the most time-efficient manner.
  7. Manages a team of two or more employees, including handling personnel issues on site and training employees on policies and procedures.
  8. Maintains a clean and sale work environment, including work site and equipment.
  9. Briefs Supervisors and makes recommendations on job status, personnel issues, or client concerns.
  10. Works as a member of the team.
  11. Helps with snow removal during winter months.
  12. Maintains assigned equipment and notifies mechanic of needed repair.
  13. Applies chemicals under the direction of a licensed custom applicator.

Knowledge and Experienced This position requires a high school degree or GED, plus one year’s experience in a landscaping or hardscaping field. Candidate must be able to read and write legibly.

The successful individual will have a working knowledge of standard horticultural and hardscaping practices including paver, pond, pruning, low-voltage lighting and irrigation installation maintenance.

  • Strong oral communication skills, job planning skills, and mechanical aptitude are a must.
  • Ability to operate a tack and trailer combination proficiently.
  • Commercial Driver’s License is a plus.

Certifications

  • This position requires that the individual be certified and licensed as follows:
  • Ohio Driver’s License and insurable with company’s agent
  • First aid / cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

Position Title: Crew Leader
Reports To: Landscape or Lawncare Manager

Position Overview
All crew leaders are responsible for the quality completion of any lawn or landscape project. He/she is responsible for communication with crew members, customers, company management, and mechanic.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Making sure all equipment and tools are loaded onto assigned truck/trailer and properly secured.
  2. Making sure all equipment and tools are returned to truck/shop upon completion of project.
  3. Keeping all crew members productively busy on the job site and conducting themseelves in a professional manner.
  4. Correctly using software program on the phone to successfully keep track of all crew member hours. Must sync phone 2-3 times per day.
  5. Making sure all safety practices are implemented at all times. Reporting any accidents immediately to HR Administrator and fill out an accident report form withing 24 hours.
  6. Making sure the work being done equals or exceeds industry standards.
  7. Handling any communication necessary with client and reporting such communication to project manager.
  8. Reporting broken or damage equipment immediately to supervisor and mechanic.
  9. Fueling all equipment.

Position Title: Crew Member/Laborer
Reports To: Crew Leader

Position Overview
All crew members/laborers are responsible to work as a team for the quality completion of any lawn or landscape project. He/she is responsible for communicating with other crew employees and the crew leader.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Presenting themselves anywhere on or off the job in a professional manner.
  2. Successfully executing any task given to exceed industry standards.
  3. Making sure he/she stays busy on the job site at all times and develops a routine with the crew leader to know what needs to be done. All crew members need to be able to perform tasks and complete them without crew leader’s assistance.
  4. Communicating any problems, solutions to problems, ideas to crew leaders/management.
  5. All laborers need to realize the crew leader is responsible to know what needs to be done and how it needs to be done. Therefore, all laborers need to execute all tasks as directed by crew leader.
  6. Reporting any accidents, broken or damaged tools, fuel or chemical spills, etc. to crew leader immediately.
  7. Be sure to check your clock in and out times and that they are recorded correctly
  8. Making sure all equipment and tools are returned to truck/shop upon completion of project.
  9. Keeping all crew members productively busy on the job site and conducting themselves in a professional manner.
